Outdoor Adventures Whistler (ph.604 932 0647) ordered the massacre of up to 100 huskies when their business dipped after the Winter Olymics.

Barbarism takes many forms and is not confined to the Balkans or the Middle East or Afghanistan or Africa. It is also found in British Columbia.

UPI reports:

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 31 (UPI) — A dogsled tour company in British Columbia is accused of killing 100 dogs when its business faded after the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Vancouver radio station CKNW said documents from WorkSafeBC, the provincial occupational health agency, show an employee of Outdoor Adventures Whistler got compensation for post-traumatic stress disorder after allegedly being made to kill the dogs.

The radio station reported the dogs were shot or had their throats cut, and were buried in a mass grave.

I emailed Howling Dog Tours and they claimed they divested Howling Dog Tours Whistler in 2004. So much blame to place around. Why didn’t the vet report this as he knew what was going to happen? The guy should have post traumatic stress – that doesn’t mean he’s a good guy. Whistler and Howling Dogs should NOT be allowed to offer this service any longer nor be in charge of the care of animals. I am sure this happens in this industry and this will just shin a light on things that need to be changed and regulated.

The blame will surely get shunted around. But nobody comes out of this with any credit and there is plenty of blame to go around.
    1. Not one of the many who were no doubt involved and in the know at the time found any reason to object.
    2. The dog-killer himself went back for a second day of executions and had no qualms on either day.
    3. He claimed and received compensation for his self-afflicted trauma!!!

  3. Receiving compensation for incompetence in executing 100 dogs is obscene « The k2p blog Says:

[…] emerging about the husky massacre in British Columbia makes it seem grotesque and macabre and certainly obscene. Not least is the fact that the General […]

I read with horror the report written by David Derbyshire, Enviroment Editor of the Daily Mail, he described the death of these magnificent beautiful creatures, in gruesome, graphic detail that left nothing more horrific to my imagination. How Outdoor Adventures were allowed to massacre these dogs without making an effort to rehome them is beyond me. Why did not the perpetratos refuse to carry out the killings? One man shot the mother of his pet dog!
