Is Anders Behring Breivik being a Freemason / Knight Templar of no relevance?

July 24, 2011

Anders Behring Breivik – the biggest individual mass murderer in Europe since WW II – was a Freemason and a Knight Templar and immensely proud of it.

  1. He presents pictures of himself in full Freemason regalia.
  2. His manifesto prominently carries the image of the cross of the Knights Templar.
  3. He was a member of John Lodge St. Olaus TD Three pillars of the Norwegian Masonic Order. He has the status of the 3rd degree, where the highest order is the 10th degree.
  4. He styles himself Justiciar Knight Commander, Knights Templar Europe, Knights Templar Norway.

I have always thought of modern Freemasonry as being just another club (albeit an exclusive and secretive club) where the members (Brothers) are charged with providing help and succour to other brethren. Probably for most members that is all it is. Even as a child I was often perplexed by my father’s secrecy over his own membership but also intrigued by the regalia that he and his fellow “Worshipful Brothers” wore. But it never seemed to be anything more than an exclusive club.

But perhaps Freemasonry is more than just another club. Perhaps the extent of the help to be provided between masonic brothers is considered to be above the Law. That would then be somewhat more than one would expect between members of an exclusive country club.

In all the media coverage of this demented man, there is much written about his being a Christian Fundamentalist, a hater of muslims and a right -wing fanatic but there is remarkably little about his membership of the Freemasons. But I would have expected that his “club memberships” and all his contacts and fellow members would have been the subject of intense media scrutiny (and also police scrutiny but I would expect that to be secret). If this had been in the UK where many senior police officers are known to be Freemasons (with the suspicion that to get to be a senior officer a policeman must be a Freemason), I might have suspected some “cover-up” or at least some down-playing of the masonic connections.

It is only in the recent Murdoch / News Corp hacking scandal in the UK that it has become apparent that some senior newspaper figures were also Freemasons and enjoyed a very cozy relationship with their fellow masons in the Police.

Main lodge building (stamhus) of the Norwegian Order of Freemasons in the centre of Oslo: Wikipedia

The Norwegian Order of Freemasons (Norwegian: Den Norske Frimurerorden) is the Masonic Grand Lodge in Norway. The first lodge (St. Olai Lodge – Later changed to Lodge St. Olaus to the white Leopard) was opened in 1749 and is still working. The Grand Lodge has followed the Swedish Rite since 1818, which requires its members to adhere to Christianity. During the union of Sweden-Norway, the Swedish-Norwegian king was Grand Master of the Order. The sovereign Grand Lodge of Norway was consecrated in 1891. As of 2009, the Order has about 20,000 members.

Perhaps it is not relevant but the lack of mainstream media interest in Anders Behring Breivik’s Freemasonry connections does seem exceedingly strange.

Hausergate: Marc Hauser will resign from Harvard

July 24, 2011

I was travelling last week and missed the news on the Boston Globe last Tuesday 19th July.

It brings a kind of resolution to the entire Hausergate affair.

“Marc Hauser has resigned his position as a faculty member, effective August 1, 2011,” Harvard spokesman Jeff Neal wrote in an e-mail statement today. Hauser was a popular professor known for his research and writing on the evolutionary underpinnings of morality and the traits that make the human mind distinct from those of other animals. He took a leave of absence after a faculty investigating committee concluded a three-year investigation — first reported last August by the Globe. But he was due to return to the university this fall, a prospect that made many of his former colleagues uncomfortable.

A large majority of the Harvard psychology faculty had voted not to allow him to teach in the department this year, and Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Michael D. Smith had supported the decision. “While on leave over the past year, I have begun doing some extremely interesting and rewarding work focusing on the educational needs of at-risk teenagers. I have also been offered some exciting opportunities in the private sector,” Hauser wrote in a resignation letter to the dean, dated July 7. “While I may return to teaching and research in the years to come, I look forward to focusing my energies in the coming year on these new and interesting challenges.” …..

Three published papers led by Hauser were thrown into question by the investigation — one was retracted and two were corrected. Problems were also found in five additional studies that were either not published or corrected prior to publication. ….

Harvard has said it is cooperating with a federal investigation into Hauser’s research, which is believed to be continuing. A spokeswoman for the federal Office of Research Integrity of the Department of Health and Human Services said the office cannot confirm or deny any ongoing investigations.

In an unusual step, dean Michael D. Smith wrote a letter to the faculty last year explaining that Hauser had been found “solely responsible” for eight instances of scientific misconduct, a serious transgression. The problems, Smith wrote, were not the same in each case, but involved “data acquisition, data analysis, data retention, and the reporting of research methodologies and results” — concerns that encompass many key aspects of scientific research. The letter detailed a list of possible sanctions in such cases, including involuntary leave and restrictions on a faculty member’s ability to apply for research grants or advise students, but also said that specific actions are kept confidential.

Japan Colloquium: Lessons for crises management

July 24, 2011

I was recently invited to write a contribution for a Japan Colloquium for the Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad.

My contribution entitled ” Sound judgements must not be stifled by Crisis Management Protocols” appears in Japan’s Tragedy and Aftermath: Lessons for Crises Management, Vikalpa, Volume 36, No.2, April – June 2011, pages 81 – 118.

Sound Judgments Must Not be Stifled by Crisis Management Protocols – Vikalpa June 2011

The story is told that at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant, the three reactors in operation began an orderly shutdown when the Great Tohoku quake of 2011 struck, even though the magnitude at 9.0 was significantly higher than the 8.3, the plant was designed for. But when the tsunami wave rolled in and all the 13 back-up diesel generators and all the emergency cooling pumps were knocked out, then an unprecedented and unforeseen chain of events was set in motion. It is said that the site management quickly came to the conclusion that sea water cooling was necessary even though this would render the reactors permanently inoperable. But it took a further eight hours for the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) management in Tokyo to agree. In the event the meltdown of the fuel rods may have been unavoidable in any case but an additional eight hours of cooling with sea water could not have hurt. A similar story is told about Hurricane Katrina where an operating engineer had the possibility of opening some valves and preventing flooding of some areas of New Orleans but did not do so because such a decision was explicitly excluded from his authority and his superiors were unreachable.

The question that arises is whether the culture of an organization helps or hinders individual managers to make judgments at times of crisis or impending disaster? Should the site manager at Fukushima or the operating engineer in New Orleans have had to wait for higher authority as they did or should the organizational culture have permitted him to bypass the chain of command? ……

The “goodness” of a judgment can only be assessed long after the judgment itself and therefore it is the soundness of judgment which must be sought rather than the intangible goodness of a future result. But a sound judgment must also be consummated by the willingness to exercise it.

Norwegian killer Anders Behring Breivik supports Sanātana Dharma and the Saffron Brigade

July 24, 2011

Unlikely support for right-wing Hindu fanatics and their anti-muslim views can be found in the “manifesto” of the perpetrator of the Norwegian massacre – Anders Behring Breivik.

The manifesto appeared on line yesterday

2083+-+A+European+Declaration+of+Independence

An unlikely combination: The Templar Cross and the Hindu Swastika

About Hindu nationalism he writes:

Saffronisation is a political neologism (after the saffron robes of the Hindu clerics), used to refer to the policy of right-wing Hindu nationalism (or Hindutva) which seeks to make the Indian state into a “Hindu nation” and its Sikh, Buddhist and Jain minorities incorporated into Hinduism. These nationalist movements are also called Sanatana Dharma movements.
A related term, the Saffron Brigade, is used as a descriptor of people and organisations in India that promote Hindu nationalism such as the Sangh Parivar by their critics, who allege a militant Hindu agenda. The Sanatana Dharma movements or Hindu nationalists in general are suffering from the same persecution by the Indian cultural Marxists as their European cousins. ………

The only positive thing about the Hindu right wing is that they dominate the streets. They do not tolerate the current injustice and often riot and attack Muslims when things get out of control, usually after the Muslims disrespect and degrade Hinduism too much. This behaviour is nonetheless counterproductive. Because instead of attacking the Muslims they should target the category A and B traitors in India and consolidate military cells and actively seek the overthrow of the cultural Marxist government.
India will continue to wither and die unless the Indian nationalists consolidate properly and strike to win. It is essential that the European and Indian resistance movements learn from each other and cooperate as much as possible. Our goals are more or less identical.
The PCCTS, Knights Templar support the Sanatana Dharma movements and Indian nationalists in general.

Anders Behring Breivik (aka Andrew Berwick): a madman’s manifesto

July 24, 2011

Anders Behring Breivik (Massacre in Norway) claims to have strong links with the English Defence League and over 7,000 friends on Facebook. He used Andrew Berwick as an anglicised form of his name. He has now admitted the massacre in Norway on Utoya island and the bombings in Oslo. He stopped killing only when he ran out of bullets.

The English Defence League (EDL) is a far-right movement which opposes what it perceives as the spread of Islamism, Sharia law and Islamic extremism in England.

As Andrew Berwick he called himself a  Justiciar Knight Commander for Knights Templar Europe  and his “manifesto” was published on the internet:

2083+-+A+European+Declaration+of+Independence

He claims that this has been distributed to his 7000 Facebook friends and their friends. He ends

I believe this will be my last entry. It is now Fri July 22nd, 12.51.
Sincere regards,

The Daily Mirror reports:

Yesterday other chilling details emerged about Breivik – a right-wing loner who lived with his mother and had been plotting his killing spree for two years. The blue-eyed blond portrayed himself as a successful entrepreneur who made a million by the age of 24 from a fruit-and-veg business. But behind the boyish good looks was a Nazi sympathiser who admired extremist groups – including the English Defence League and the British National Party.

He has a lust for violent films and computer games and holds a licence for three guns. His Facebook page says he loves bodybuilding and Call Of Duty – where players can shoot people on an island. And he says his top TV show is US-drama Dexter – in which a police officer turns into a serial killer. He lists his favourite films as Gladiator and 300, where a small band of soldiers fight to the last man against an army of one million. Police believe this love of violence inspired Breivik’s massacre on Friday.

Breivik was a straight-A student at school and went to Oslo Commerce School – an institution devoted to business and management. He launched his own firm, Breivik Geofarm, 10 years ago and claimed to have become a millionaire within two years. Until recently his main home was a flat in a wealthy suburb of Oslo, but months ago he switched to a remote farmhouse outside the capital, where he lived with his mum.

Detectives believe it was from this farmhouse that he stockpiled the supplies for his killing spree. On May 4 he ordered six tonnes of fertiliser – the likely ingredient for the bomb that ripped through the Government district in Oslo.

Piles of the fertiliser were yesterday neatly stacked at the bottom of his garden in large white sacks and were being searched by forensic officers. They were also inspecting the flat and neatly kept farmhouse in a hunt for clues. And as detectives questioned Breivik over the bloodbath, details emerged about the suspect’s right-wing political background – with one friend even likening him to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. Breivik was a member of Norway’s right-wing Progress party from 1999 to 2006 – but quit because he thought the group was not being radical enough in its policies.

His own political rants, many posted online, may provide clues as to why his attacks targeted Norwegian prime minister Jens Stoltenberg – leader of the country’s Labour Party. Breivik is believed to have turned to right-wing extremism in his late 20s after serving in the military as part of his national service.

He describes himself as a Christian and a Conservative on his Facebook profile – and also claims that he is a fan of Winston Churchill. In many messages he criticises immigrants and Norwegian politicians who sympathise with them. An extensive blogger, Breivik regularly writes about far-right political parties including the English Defence League. He also admits to being a fan of BNP leader Nick Griffin.

Yesterday Norwegian police chief Sveinung Sponheim, who is leading the investigation into the massacre, said the rants give a clear indication of his evil. “His internet postings on several forums suggest he has political traits directed towards the right – and anti-Muslim views,” he said. A friend who attended Progress Party rallies with Breivik said he reminded him of Hitler. “He was shy and not particularly active in the party,” the friend said. “He didn’t attend any events apart from the annual national conference where he was very studious and would sit back and listen rather than join in. ” Last night Ove Vanebo, youth leader of the Progress Party, said: “We did not think he was capable of something like that. “He was apparently a quiet and modest man.”

Massacre in Norway – Not islamist terrorists but the work of a right-wing, demented lunatic

July 23, 2011

87 people killed and the immediate knee-jerk reaction was to call this a terrorist attack and the work of islamist fanatics.

But it was not a terror attack to be blamed on Al Qaida but the bloody work of a depraved and demented Norwegian freemason who hated muslims.

Suspect: Norwegian media reported that Anders Behring Breivik has been arrested

The Norwegian Dagbladet reports that Anders Behring Breivik is apparently a Freemason and one of the loony right.

The alleged offender is a member of the John lodge St. Olaus TD Three pillars of the Norwegian Masonic Order. He has the status of the 3rd degree, where the highest order is the 10th degree. “We have no way to express an opinion on individuals or incidents related to any members”,  Helge Qvigstad, spokesman of the Norwegian Freemasons order told Dagbladet. On a Facebook profile he appears to be 32-year-old Christian and politically conservative. His favorite books showing the man behind the profile include George Orwell’s “1984″ and Kafka’s “process”.

truthfrequencynews.com

The gunman was dressed as a police officer and gunned down young people as they ran for their lives at a youth camp. Police said Friday evening that they’ve linked the youth camp shooting and Oslo bombing. Breivik is believed to have acted alone.

Norwegian TV2 reports that Breivik belongs to “ring-wing circles” in Oslo. ….

A Director of Breivik Geofarm with qualifications in micro and macro finance and holding Conservative political views, he lists political analysis as one of his interests and his favourite books are 1984, On Liberty and The Trial. He also lists hunting as a pastime. …

Another Freemason involved with a mass shooting (in case we forget) – Thomas Hamilton, who commited the Dunblaine massacre in Scotland.

Were Stephenson, Hayman, Yates and Wallis all freemasons?

July 18, 2011

The spreading tentacles of the UK phone hacking spectacle are reaching the highest levels of government and media and police.

Where else will it reach?

The particularly “chummy” relationships between media and police seem exactly like those between members of an exclusive club where all members are charged with providing succour and assistance to each other,

It has all the ingredients necessary for a conspiracy theory.

And few organisations are better suited for conspiracy theories than the Freemasons!!

“for your own good” is the most arrogant phrase there is

July 10, 2011

The height of arrogance is when I am told by someone else that I should do something or not do something “for your own good”.

Be it a doctor or a lawyer or an environmental campaigner or a civil servant or a politician or a government,  the phrase raises my hackles.

It presumes too much.

It does not convince.

It is dictatorial.

It imposes one person’s values on someone else.

It is a denial of the subject’s most deep-seated and fundamental value of deciding what constitutes “good”.

I am inclined to think that the most fundamental human characteristic is that

any – and every – human can determine what is “good”

The needs of others and surrounding society and definitions of basic human rights can circumscribe this but cannot – by diktat – take away this fundamental value which is I think integral to being an individual. By corollary any entity which cannot decide what is good and then distinguish between “good” and “bad” does not then qualify for the label “human individual”.

This leads me to paraphrase Descartes’

“cogito ergo sum” (I thinktherefore I am)

to be instead:

I decide what is “good” and can distinguish that which is “bad”.

Therefore I am.

Plagiarist with a recently rescinded PhD appointed EU Commissioner for Research

July 5, 2011

The number of German politicians who have plagiarised for their doctorates grows. After zu Guttenberg, the story of Sylvana Koch-Mehrin and Jorgo Chatzimarkakis is building up into another dirty little tale.

EU politicians are less than impressive. The level of corruption and scams along with the level of arrogance of the EU politicians in Brussels is almost legendary. From my experiences I am fairly certain that the level of political corruption in Europe is significantly higher than for example in India – but far more sophisticated and difficult to find.

The distinct impression is of pigs feeding in a trough.

Pigs feeding from the EU trough

From Professor Debora Weber-Wulff’s blog:

Sylvana Koch-Mehrin had her doctorate rescinded by the University of Heidelberg for containing over 30% plagiarism in May 2011, and now in June she has been named EU commissioner for research, Spiegel Online reports.

This means that she is in the committee that determines research policy for the EU. She had been an alternate for the committee, her fellow FDP politician, Jorgo Chatzimarkakis (his dissertation is currently at 71% plagiarism, but he is contesting the plans of the University in Bonn to rescind his doctorate as well) had the main seat. They have now changed places.

What does this say about research in Germany? What message does this give to the general populace about the importance of research? Plagiarists determining research policy? If today was April 1 I would have considered this an April Fool’s joke, but it is unfortunately true.

Poor Germany, all of your good researchers do not deserve this.

Update: A petition has been started requesting that she step down immediately.  It is online in English, German, and French. If you feel so inclined, please sign. There are already almost 2000 signatures – on day 1 of the petition.

I just signed this petition and I am signer #8325.
